"We Know Our Land is Valuable": A Biomimicry Project - Fall 2017

Welcome to the world of Biomimicry!  In this project, students explored how nature can inspire modern engineering.  Borrowing from what evolution has more or less perfected over millions of years, students analyzed structures and functions found within nature and applied them to their own engineering feats.  From using beehives to inspire apartment high-rises to using armadillos to modernize gardening gloves,  no application seemed untouchable with the students creative and critical thinking skills on overdrive.  This project was also conjoined with a humanities project that focused on Native American cultures and how they value land; urging students to rediscover why both nature and Native Americans agree "We Know Our Land is Valuable!"
